HYHT: The Prodigy – Smack My Bitch Up (Noisia Remix)
Posted by: Dee on October 22, 2012I remember going to underground raves in dark warehouses, and hearing remix after remix in every genre possible of The Prodigy’s Smack My Bitch Up. People would go crazy anytime they heard that signature rift. But, like all tracks that generates any serious amount of buzz, it quickly gets overplayed. After that, if a DJ dared to drop it in their set they were guaranteed to see a dance floor empty and the party turn into a bunch of jaded ravers.
Fast forward to today, and we find ourselves dancing in overpacked night clubs, with expensive drinks and bathroom attendants longing for that dark warehouse with one sketchy bathroom. It makes for the sense of nostalgia even more powerful when a forgotten anthem from our past fills our ears. It becomes something desired again.
Has enough time past for Smack My Bitch Up to be a magical moment on the dance floor again? Noisia seems to think so and I just might have to agree with them. The Prodigy introduced so many people to electronic music and Noisia has definitely cranked their track up another notch by finding a way to update the sound for todays musical tastes. This remix will be released on December 3rd as part of The Prodigy’s 15th anniversary edition of The Fat Of The Land.
Check out the remix below and if you’re in the Vancouver area this Wednesday you can check out Noisia at Celebrities nightclub. Hosted by Blueprintevents.ca and featuring Shah Dj’s very own Willisist and J.F. Killah plus Krusha. Facebook RSVP yourself to the event here.
