HYHT: Pretty Lights – The Hot Sh*t (Ep. 31)
Posted by: Alex on June 25, 2012
It was only a matter of time before our weekly Have you Heard this focused in on one of the artists I’m most excited to see at Shambhala Music Festival this year.
Back in November Derek Vincent Smith – better known as Pretty Lights started doing his weekly radio show for SiriusXM station Electric Area. For these last 4 months I’ve been enjoying his weekly selections of glitchy funk and hiphop tracks immensely! It’s such a different sound than a lot of the bass heavy tunes coming out right now. These sets are a refreshing departure from the more poppy sounds that seems to becoming so popular at the moment.
Admitedly Pretty Lights’ weekly contribution to a predominately trance and house filled station isn’t ever going to be enough to get me to pay the monthly fee for a satalite radio subscription. But, I will continue to be coming back every week to listen on his Soundcloud page and I highly suggest you do the same. With over 30 episodes in the can so far, and no sign of slowing –
I expect we should have something great to listen to for quite some time.
