The Village Sessions: Treblesum and Melo.Nade Live at Shambhala 2013
Posted by: AllieKat on May 8, 2014Shambhala-goers had a special treat in 2013. Two veterans of the Calgary bass scene Treblesum and Melo.Nade laid down a surprise sunrise set at The Village Stage as Gramatik was unable to make his evening time slot. Although we were all disappointed to have to miss Gramatik, these two stepped up and laid down an epic set to fill the extra time slot.
Both DJs are bass aficionados. Treblesum assisted by Melo.Nade runs his own glitch label, Tycho Records out of Calgary and is a faithful member of the hardworking PK Sound crew. Both DJs also work as co-conspirators for Space Invaderz, the design crew who give you the Cabana Stage at Motion Notion as well as worked on building the Pagoda last year. These guys certainly know how to create a magical visual environment and luckily for us, they know how to create an equally proper musical one.
Treblesum begins the mix with Melo.Nade joining him for the latter half of the set. The duo takes us on a journey all over the bass music spectrum ranging from drum and bass, to hip-hop, to dubstep, 808, glitch-hop and all kinds of crunchy, psychedelic midtempo goodness. This one’s high energy and bursting with beats that’ll make you want to drop what you’re doing and get low. If you listen close enough you can probably hear me cheering from on top of a platform at the Village. It’s that good.
Thanks to both Treblesum and Melo.Nade for sharing their set through The Village Sessions 2013! It’s almost festival season in Canada (!!!!) and we all need to have those iPods road trip ready. Get it in your ears:
