When the sun sets on the last day of Shambhala you know there isn’t going to be a single person who isn’t trying to cram the last little bit of party in. Generic and Dua dropped this set late in the Shambhala weekend and the crowd went nuts trying to drink in every last drop of musical magic. Bouncing from genre to genre these two guys turned the party to 10.

Generic and Dua met when working together at Whitebird Events in Victoria, B.C. Dua was Whitebird’s promoter and Generic a resident DJ. Now, Dua is Generic’s Artist Manager and friend. For special occasions (like Shambhala) they will perform together.

Dua is also the man in charge of DLD Productions; a production/promotion company specializing in Bass Music events in Victoria, B.C. But, that’s not all… He’s also holds an important role at The Village Stage as Stage Supervisor and Hip Hop Showcase Talent Buyer.

We asked Dua a couple questions about his experience at Shambhala 2014.

What makes The Village Stage special for you?

The people, the sound system, and the catwalks 🙂

Favourite moment of Shambhala 2014?

During Andy C’s set, he almost got annihilated by a giant beach ball a couple times.

The first time it happened, he looked at me wide eyed and shook his head. The second time it happened, he turned to me and yelled “DUA, KILL THAT THING!” at which point I grabbed the stage managers and headed into the crowd.

After chasing the beachball through the crowd, we finally grabbed it, and dragged it to the side of the stage.  Out of nowhere, Cole [Generic] comes flying out of the air, lands on top, and BITES a hole in the beachball.

When it fully deflated, Cole asked me “What do we do with it?” to which I replied, “Bring it to Andy of course!” and we dragged it directly to his feet on stage while he smiled, clapped and said “Excellent work gents!”.

I’ll never forget that moment.

Editors Note: Incase you missed the beach ball…. here is a video that helps to illustrate it’s giant size.

Any thoughts you’d like to share about your 2014 Village set?
