All You Need is BASS

Sync Festival 2012 Info

Main Stage

Have you heard of Sync Fest in Golden, British Columbia? It’s taking place in just a few short days (June 1 – 4) and is guaranteed to be wicked sweet. We were already pretty stoked about going, and after talking to some of the promoters over the long weekend we’re sure this festival is going to be off the charts. Here’s a few of the things that I think are going to make Sync so memorable.

Not satisfied with merely seeing a huge stack of bass bins in front of your DJ? Neither am I! Luckily Sync has contracted Calgary based stage designers Space Invaderz to whip up their magic and create something special. Talking with the team, they’re pretty excited to show off the visual masterpiece they’ve planned for the stage.

What Bass looks like

Sound by PK Sound

Up here in the great Canadian North pK reigns supreme for sound. The quality of bass that comes out of their bins is like nothing I’ve heard and felt. There are 2 stages at Sync and both of them have line array’s with bass bins for the optimal sound quality. There’s no messing around this time, it’s going to blow the lid off. pK is bringing a whole new level of sound that is catching on quick with their recent expansion to San Francisco.

Beama Visual Environments

I first saw this crew at Shambhala Pagoda stage last year and was blown away. Their video mapping and projection is unreal, so good that Excision brought them on board to do his X Tour. Watch the above video, ’nuff said.

Beaverfoot Lodge

A big part of any great festival is the location it’s held in and it’s pretty hard to beat a backdrop of the Canadian Rockies. Lots of space for camping, a glacier fed river and hopefully warm sunny days to chill out. Sounds pretty good to me.

The Talent

It’s an all out audio assault with this line up, check out some of the artist soundcloud pages. Mochipet is breathing fire lately on his latest release Moguera vs Too Short . I have high expectations for An-Ten-Ae to lay down some sick glitchy beats and Vancouver based Glitchy and Scratchy and Calgary’s Fat Pat. I’m stoked to hear Minnesota lay out some dubstep and glitch. Plus the drum’n’bass of Spiral Architects, Hush with a sunrise Ragga Jungle set and the rest of the PK crew will not disappoint as usual and may steal the show. It’s a giant bass cake and the icing is our friends Mousai Entertainment who will enchanting us with their artistic interactive dance.

So hats off to Symmetry Sound Crew, it looks like one hell of a party. If you don’t have your tickets yet you can buy them online or through the local shops in Vancouver, Calgary and Edmonton. Hit up the Sync Fest facebook event page or website for more information.
