Slow Jam Sundays: Janover and Djunya – Quanta

December 21 marks the end of the Mayan Long Count Calendar and is just a little over four days away. As some of our fellow inhabitants prepare for impending doom, I am going to take this chance to relax, reflect and embrace the change to come.  There is no better way for me to do that than tuck into Quanta, the newest EP from Janover and Djunya.

With the nearly endless amount of music constantly streaming in, it isn’t uncommon for some of it to get lost. But,this collaboration between Janover and Djunya is an example of how music can resonate with you beyond the surface and find it’s way into your core. Recently released on MutiMusic this 4 track EP is a sophisticated synthesis of polyrythmic beats and intelligent instrumentals. Vast the first of the four tracks, is a showcase of Janovers undeniable talent and mastering of the hammered dulcimer. Conduit is the second and third track, it features the hauntingly beautiful vocals and poetic lyrisict of reSUNator, whom we had the pleasure of hearing live this summer. Wrapping up the EP is Crush, which simultaneaously combines and highlights both the producers unique and sensibility to there art.

You can check out a sample of the EP below and if you like it as much as I do, I highly recomend purchasing the entire EP.
