Motion Notion 2012 Lineup Announcement
Posted by: Alex on May 1, 2012Early this morning the cats over at Katalyst Events released their very impressive lineup for this years Motion Notion. Each year the festival has gained huge popularity, and is quickly becoming one of the largest festivals in Western Canada. It is also great to see an event that started off as Psy-trance festival move towards such a bass heavy line up. With over 50% of artists being either Glitch Hop, DnB or Dubstep it is easy to say we are excited about what we see!
There are a few big changes coming this year for Motion Notion. The first is the move from their home in Drayton Valley, Alberta to just outside of Golden, British Columbia. The other huge (and awesome) announcement is that PK Sound is doing a stage this year. If you aren’t familiar with PK you haven’t been paying enough attention to what is going on in the bass music scene. If their amazing management of the Village stage at Shambhala is any indicator as to what their Motion Notion stage is going to be like – people should be very excited.
Here are three people we wouldn’t miss at MoNo (though I could have written a list 5 times this size):
Kraddy: Three days ago I had a 20 minute conversation about the merits and progression of Kraddy’s style and his contribution to the continuing evolution of Glitch Hop as a whole. So you’ll have to believe me that I when I say I wouldn’t miss Kraddy’s set for really anything I really mean it. A great deluge of water would have to come, and sweep me away for there even to be a chance of me not be there to hear one of my top 3 favorite producers.
Ill-Gates: A staple of the festival season, Ill-Gates is one of our favorite Glitch Hop DJs. Last year at Burning Man I was super excited that Ill-Gates was going to be playing a whopping 21 over the 7 days. At the end of the festival I realized that I had managed to miss every single amazing set!
Ajapai: This Japanese monster of Dubstep has been crushing dance floors like Mechagodzilla crushes cars! After hearing amazing things about his tour with Excision we are so excited to hear what the best of the Tokyo Dubstep scene has been producing.
Check out the rest of their line up below!
