A Look Into The Lucent Dossier Experience
Posted by: Alex on August 3, 2015The Lucent Dossier Experience
From Burningman, to the Dahli Lama’s birthday, The Lucent Dossier Experience has traveled across the world creating a stage show like no other. They blend the bizarre and wondrous into an experience that captivates the imagination. With their signature style and mind bending performances they create pure spectacle. As they get ready to head out to Shambhala we had a chance to sit down with Dream Rockwell, the visionary behind Lucent Dossier and ask her a few questions.
For those people who have never seen one of Lucent Dossier Experience performances what should they expect?
They should expect bananas! Humans going bananas! Beauty and silliness. We get wild and we offer permission slips for weird, fully expressed behavior. We love beauty, in all its forms. There are acrobats, aerialist, fire, dance, live music and singers. But most of all, we hope it’s fun.
You came to Shambhala last year, what were your impressions and what do you have lineup for this year’s performance?
We can see that audiences come to feel free; to be playful; to be a little wild. We loved it all. We plan to reflect that in our performance and take it up a notch. You inspired us, now we hope to inspire you back!
From concept to actualized performance how long does it generally take to create a new Lucent Dossier Experience show?
It can take months to polish a highly technical routine, but often the idea, the birth of it, comes in a moment of inspiration. So we are always looking to be inspired by nature, by other humans and unique experiences.
What was it like performing for the Dalai Lama’s 80th Birthday?
It was the most profound experience of my life. We were all deeply impacted. This is a man who has been meditating 5 hours a day for 71 years. The energy he exudes is powerful, calm, a little silly and infectious. I felt as if he infused in me, in that brief moment, a sense of purpose deeper than I’ve ever known before. It has changed they way we are writing and creating new material. We are deeply inspired to reflect his wisdom, his sense of humor and compassion into our new work. I think this is what he wanted to do with us, to use us as a tool for the greater work. We are happy to oblige.
Do you have any words of wisdom for people about to go out and join the circus?
It’s gonna be a wild ride! You will learn more than you imagined and experience more than you ever thought possible. That’s why I believe we come to planet earth. We come to get in it; to feel; to experience. Being part of a cirque is one sure fire way to get in it. Of course there are many ways to experience life on earth, but just be sure you are experiencing it. Turn off the TV, computer, and smart phone and go live a little.
