HYHT: Crazy Daylight – Want Blood Remixes
Posted by: Alex on October 1, 2012I Don’t know about the rest of you, but I had a little too much fun this past weekend. Between Nu-Mark, Phutureprimitive, and Shpongle I’m feeling like I might need a bit of a time out in the excitement department. So I thought to myself what better way for me relax than to spend my Monday morning (ok afternoon) than chilling with my headphones on, digging through the digital crates for today’s Have you Heard this.
Today Tycho Records released their Crazy Daylight Want Blood remixes EP. These remixes are brought to you by 4 of Western Canada/United States’ best, up and coming glitch producers. These 4 drop you into an ocean of glitchtastic sounds and badass beats!
K-Theory and Flavours’ remixes of Purple Grapes are great. You have incredibly talented producers taking one track and doing such different things with it. With Flavours’ version you have a real slow build to the 1:22 mark where you get a nice layered drop that elevates the energy of the track. With K-Theory, he jumps out of gates nearly immediately with a much higher tempo glitch hop track that had me grooving right away.
The Radio Monster remix from Defunk has that low frequency sound that I love. I can imagine that track is going to be a smasher on a huge system!
My favorite track of the EP is Tantric Deck’s remix of Want Blood. The fact that this track single-handedly managed to get my heart rate going to the point where my broken and exhausted body actually started moving it a feat unto itself. That coupled with the fact that it is a fantastic remix with some wicked synth sounds throughout makes this one a favorite for me.
I’m not going to lie, when I first started looking for tracks to cover for today’s HyHt my intention was to look for something downtempo. But, when I heard this EP I couldn’t resist picking something that actually made me want to get up and dance. This 4 track release is available today exclusively on Beatport. The full release is to follow 2 weeks later, Oct. 15th on iTunes, Addictech and pretty much all the other retailers. So check it out!
