Believe Freedom Festival 2013 in Whistler, BC

This upcoming weekend AYNiB is covering two festivals. Some of our members are traveling to the well respected Lightning in a Bottle in California, and myself and Scott are heading to a brand new festival located in our own backyard, Believe Freedom Festival. This will be the first time our travels to a festival is under 2 hours away! Usually the festivals we’ve attended in the past have been at least 9 hours away.

Believe Freedom Festival 2013 is a premier electronic, world music and cultural festival at the Whistler Olympic Park in British Columbia, Canada. Scott and I were traveling through Thailand during the Vancouver Winter Olympics so, we are quite excited to get a chance to head up to Whistler and finally see the Olympic Park! The existing facilities are world class and offer visitors a multitude of areas to explore. Tucked away from urban congestion in the Callaghan Valley, with a warm and friendly atmosphere for people to enjoy themselves, the park has all the ingredients for an unforgettable experience that we can’t wait to explore. Check out the festival map here.

Believe will be running for five incredible days and four spectacular nights. (July 11 – July 15th 2013) On display will be a diverse selection of international, local West Coast and Canadian talent as well as the BDI team, comprised of contemporary entertainers and artists. All are set to overwhelm your senses and take you on an unforgettable journey at this world class venue.

The festival has four arenas to explore based around the infrastructure set up for the Olympics. Each stage, set and sound system will be custom designed and built for the event using the BELIEVE Summer 2013 theme. All of the areas are intimately connected by winding asphalt roads and a pedestrian trail system that runs throughout the complex. The trails connect the permanent sporting facilities to large sections of abundant space that will be used for parking and camping.

On-top of all this, the line-up can get any bass music lovers ear to pick up. With international headliners like LTJ Bukem, Kenny Ken, JBostron, DJ SS and Liquid Stranger and reggae superstar, Julian Marley. Then there is a pile of amazing local and national Canadian talent from the likes of, Marcus Visionary, Dj Dubconcious, Ninjette, Slim Pickins, J.F Killah & Eradik, Kytami, StickyBuds, Wood N So, Timothy Wisdom and Frantiq, just to name a few. Check out the line up and schedule here to see the rest of the amazing acts, it’s impossible to list them all!

Watch our facebook, twitter and instagram (allyouneedisbass) feeds for live updates from the festival this weekend. Then, we’ll report with a full review and more when we get back.
